"Volunteers for inclusion", EVS in Portugal

Volunteers for Inclusion has been a long-term EVS project developed in Portugal, specifically in the beautiful city of Lisbon, in which two volunteers from the Mundus Association collaborated. The host association was Proatlântico,a Portuguese organization that is dedicated to facilitating international experiences for young people. However, the volunteers of Mundus, Jara and Lucia, developed their activities with Casa Pia de Lisboa, an organization that manages child care centers.

The project was carried out at the Centro de Educação e Desenvolvimento Santa Clara which manages six shelters located in Sintra, Cascais and Oeiras, towns near Lisbon. Each foster home offers protection to a maximum of fourteen children and adolescents who have been victims of abuse.

Our volunteers, among other tasks, were responsible for encouraging and organizing leisure activities for children (sports and musical activities, theaters, craft workshops, movie viewing, talks, etc.), to accompany the children in activities outside the foster home, in helping them with their studies, as well as in other daily tasks of the foster home.

In the following gallery you can see some images of all the volunteers upon arrival.
