“Can Europa” brings together more than 70 young Colomenses to prepare their Erasmus + internships

The Mundus Association organized last weekend, May 13 and 14, a training event for more than 70 boys and girls from the different public vocational centers of Santa Coloma de Gramenet to prepare them for their internship abroad.

From the Insitut Puig Castellar, Insitut Les Vinyes, Insitut La Bastida and Grameimpuls, this summer, these students will leave for different European countries to make an internship stay of between 30 and 60 days in a foreign company. Poland, Italy, Macedonia, Germany and Malta are some of the destinations.

The “Can Europa” training took place in El Masnou, specifically in the Josep Maria Batista i Roca hostel. Through activities and dynamics based on non-formal education, the international trainers and volunteers of Mundus tried to travel with the young people beforehand the path that will lead them to leave their comfort zone in a few days.

Can Europa was an example of integration, diversity and that other more inclusive and participatory education is possible. Thanks to the good weather and the willingness of the participants, they worked intensively through a program that dealt with fears and expectations, interculturality or conflict resolution.

“From Santa Coloma to Europe” is the name of the project designed and managed by a consortium created between Mundus, the City Council and the three educational centers to promote the international and formative mobility of young Colomenses.

The MUNDUS Association is a non-profit organization, created in 2013, with delegations in Santa Coloma de Gramenet (Barcelona) and Zaragoza. Its main task is to manage international training and mobility projects - practices, volunteers, exchanges, courses - for young people and professionals working with this sector of the population, promoting education in values, intercultural learning, or volunteering from the Informal education. They currently collaborate with different vocational training centers to design and manage practice programs Erasmus+ for their students.

From December to this summer, a process of dissemination, selection and training of the participants in the Erasmus + project was carried out with talks, interviews, language classes, advice and, finally, this weekend of Can Europa.
