Training course. Between July 26 and August 4, three Mundus members participated in the Erasmus + seminar on fake news What the Fake, organized by the French entity AMSED. The objective was to share good practices against false news among the participants, who came from several European countries, especially in view of their application to youth work in each local context. In this chronicle, Lorena, Barbara and Irene tell us how this Erasmus + experience went.

How can we face the fake news? What good practices can we implement to help citizens protect themselves from misinformation? Within the framework of an Erasmus + youth training project (What the fake! Make the news great again!),

Organized by AMSED and funded by the European Commission, 50 young people from 15 European countries have been discussing, learning and sharing resources to, together, build tools that help keep misinformation at bay.

In the ten days of cultural exchange that have taken place in La Vancelle (France), in addition to conducting non-formal learning practices to build joint knowledge, they have had the opportunity to have discussions with journalists who are experts in the field, such as Genevieve Daune-Anglard , from Quotidien Alsace; Jean-François Dolisi of French public television France 3 Alsace; and with the head of the department of prevention of radicalization of the city council of Strasbourg, Eric Poinssot, who presented the didactic materials that they have created together with journalists and pedagogues to implement in the schools.

In a scenario where disinformation threatens democracy, as has been seen in recent electoral processes, these types of projects shed light on an excessively inflated society. Between July 26 and August 4, participants have developed good practices, tutorials and pedagogical materials to implement in their countries and have a local impact. Young people have completed the project by increasing their digital and pedagogical skills to work on the detection of fake news.
