Desi did an EVS volunteering in Mundus office. As all the other volunteers, she didn’t run away from some questions about her experience.
Why did you decide doing an EVS?
After some years working in the International mobility field, I still had some difficulties to understand what being an EVS volunteer means. In addition, I was excited to participate in a project with other young people and I thought it could help me to overcome my personal barriers. I come from a small village and this experience helped me realize the needs and problems of young people growing in a city. It has been really enriching.
What is your EVS about?
My EVS was really interesting because I worked mainly with young people from different countries, cultures and socio-economic conditions. I was in contact with the guys who were coming to Mas Fonollar and I loved to share with them my background, passed experiences towards some workshops. In addition I helped in the office with the creativity part and this motivated me a lot.
Why dingo an EVS?
EVS was a living and learning experience that I will never forget. Having the opportunity to be hosted in another country and work with young people, it makes me aware about daily affairs that we sometimes mess up. EVS is definitely a tool to overcome all the challenges of life. During this months, new interests, new friends, food and parties came out…
What is the thing you like more about living in Barcelona?
Barcelona is a beautiful city where a lot of things always happen. People’s civic sense and the genuine interest of the citizens, really surprised me. In addition to that, I love art and I spend a lot of weekends in the free museums that the city offers. I spend all my EVS in Santa Coloma, a very peculiar place.
Once you will have finished, are you going to repeat this experience?
My EVS was a long experience, not always simple. It gave me a lot and made me reflect about my life and attitude. I will certainly repeat this experience, especially for all the relationships I made and the incredible people I met.
