EUROPE FOR VET 2: meeting in Zaragoza

The EUROPE FOR VET 2 project held a training and a transnational meeting in the city of Zaragoza from November 16th to 19th with partners from Poland, Italy and Spain

The objective of the event was to improve the quality of student internships in companies and develop tools for internship mentors

From November 16th to 19th, partners of the KA2 EUROPE FOR VET 2 project met in the city of Zaragoza. The meeting was due to several reasons. On the one hand, a transnational meeting of partners from Poland, Italy and Spain was held. But in addition, the occasion was also used to carry out a training course. All this with the ultimate goal of improving the quality of internships for Erasmus VET students in companies and developing tools to facilitate the work of internship mentors.

EUROPE FOR VET 2 is a KA2 project whose main objective is to improve the quality of the internships of Erasmus VET students in companies and to develop tools that facilitate the work of their internship mentors.

The meeting in Zaragoza served to work on the COMPENDIUM, a guide for internship mentors of Erasmus + students, and on the METRICA, an evaluation system that will serve to analyze companies that host interns.

In order to develop these tools, the project participants had several activities that helped them to see different points of view and to exchange good practices:

Visit to SWIFT ENGLISH

The partners visited the SWIFT ENGLISH language academy where the owner and mentor of the students, Gemma O'Reilly, shared her experience with Erasmus + students and talked about the role of the student´s mentor in the company desired mentor´s vocational skills and personal attitude to be able provide the students the highest quality of the internships and professional and personal development.

Talks with VET teachers in their centers

During the LTTA, another fruitful meetings were held in VET Centers: IES Virgen del Pilar in Zaragoza and IES Tubalcain in Tarazona (online meeting). Professors and Erasmus+ coordinators were sharing their point of view regarding the role of the mentor in the company, which kind of preparation before hosting the students they should receive? It was an excellent opportunity to exchange good practices and receive more useful information to prepare the compendium and training for mentors more suitable to their needs.

Session with Jorge Zarazaga from Mundus

The participants also had the opportunity to meet with the head of the companies department in Mundus, Jorge Zarazaga, to discuss about his extensive experience with the business world and a wide network of the companies he is collaborating with (under Erasmus+ program). Jorge has shared his experience regarding collaboration with the mentors from all sectors around Zaragoza, giving his point of view on the mentor's special needs that the project with its results could fulfill. He shared as well his thoughts about the type of the training and information inside the compendium that might be useful in order to prepare the mentors for hosting the students in the companies.
