Second study visit of the Edu-Action 2.0 project: Kenya

KA2 - STRATEGIC PROJECTS - The second project study visit was held in Kisumu (Kenya) between June 5 and 8 Edu-Action 2.0, a strategic training project of which Mundus is a partner. On this visit, participants have been able to learn first-hand from youth centers to the Kenyan Ministry of Education to learn best practices against early school leaving.

Between June 5 and 8, two members of the Mundus team, Adele Ramacciotti and Ana Cáceres, participated in the study visit that took place in Kisumu (Kenya) in the framework of the Edu-Action 2.0 project. The objective of this visit was to know good practices of collaboration between formal and non-formal education to stop and prevent early school leaving.

In a context different from the local reality of our participants, they were able to know the infrastructures, projects and strategies that serve to minimize the impact of school dropout in this country. The participants, together with youth workers from Uruguay, Estonia, Nepal and Italy, visited vocational training centers that are responsible for training young people in the face of their employment and social inclusion.

In addition, the group was able to learn about non-formal educational alternatives, such as the YMCA youth center, which works together with schools to prevent children from being out of school, working at an early age or being vulnerable in the streets.

The visit also featured a stop at the Kenyan Ministry of Education, where the group learned about the operation of the formal and non-formal education system in Kenya.

This is the second study visit of the Edu-Action project, after the one held in May in Tallinn (Estonia). After this phase of the project and after the summer, the observation or job shadowing stays between countries will begin. This project is co-financed by the European Commission and coordinated by the Italian entity Per Esempio ONLUS.
